We are delighted to welcome guest speakers Dr Wesley O’Brien and Coaching Tutor Paudie Butler. This workshop is aimed at all coaches involved in developing young players. Dr. Wesley O’ Brien was awarded his PhD in physical activity promotion amongst youth at the School of Health and Human Performance, at Dublin City University in 2013. He has previously lectured at The University of Bolton, Dublin City University and Cork Institute of Technology. Over the past four years, he has lectured in the areas of physical education, coaching studies, exercise physiology, movement analysis, childhood fundamental movement skills, motor control, outdoor and adventure education, physical activity, nutrition and weight management. Wesley is a qualified physical education teacher and is presently lecturing on the Sports Studies and Physical Education programme at University College Cork. Wesley recently coached the Cork Senior Camogie team which won the All-Ireland in 2015 and is currently coaching the UCC Fresher Hurling team. Adult AGM – Sat 14th Nov 8pm in Scoil an Athar Tadhg Juvenile AGM – Sat 28th Nov 8:30pm in Scoil an Athar Tadhg As a busy playing season comes to an end with the Junior Football League Division 3 Final on Sunday Nov 15th against old rivals Glenville, attention begins to switch towards 2016 as the AGM’s of the Adult and Juvenile clubs take place in the coming weeks. On Sat 14th November, the Adult club AGM takes place in Scoil an Athar Tadhg at 8pm. All members are requested to attend and new members are most welcome to come along. There are a number of vacant officer positions that need to be filled for the coming year. Nominations are welcome and can be emailed to outgoing Secretary Liam Spillane at secretary.carrignavar.cork@gaa.ie . A fortnight later, on Saturday the 28th November, our Junveile section hold their AGM at 8:30pm, also in Scoil an Athar Tadhg. Once again, the meeting is open to all and new members, especially parents, volunteers and players, are especially welcome to attend. We are always seeking new players from five years and upwards and of course older players who may have played with other clubs and are now living in the parish are more than welcome to join the Carraig na bhFear GAA Club. People who never played the games are encouraged to join too as we have a role for everyone, from helping out with teams, to coaching, to administration.
