Busy Week for U14’s

It’s been a busy few weeks for the U14 squad. The team competed in the Cork Feile Football competition on Saturday 23rd April and just came up short after some great performances. All of the lads gave 100% effort and did the Club proud and they are all looking forward with great anticipation to the Hurling Feile , due to take place on 7th May. Only 2 days earlier, the team made the trip to Carrigtwohill hoping to maintain their unbeaten staus in the Football League (after victories over Castlelyons and Whitescross) and what a game this turned out to be! Both sides provided real entertainment for all the spectators present. Carraig got off to an ideal start with 1-1 from the boot of Sean O’ Donoghue but Carrigtwohill fought their way back and  we were on the backfoot for for a period midway through the half until Colm Murphy, making his debut for the club, grabbed the game by the scruff of the neck and scored 5 great points from play. This inspired further scores from Luke Cremin and Billy Connolly and the pressure on the Carrigtwohill goalmouth ended in an own goal by the home team leaving the half time score at 2-8 to 1-4. Carrigtwohill came out after half time and scored  a couple of early goals to restore parity but our lads kept their composure, no panicking, just focusing on getting the basics right and the rewards followed with some superb points and a third goal. The last ten minutes was real end to end stuff but Carraig na bhFear held out to claim a 4 point victory on a final score of 3-15 to 5-5.  So, after...

Junior A Footballers gear up for 3rd Round this Saturday

East Cork JFL Div 1 Carraig na bhFear 3-06 Erins Own 1-07 Our Junior A footballers continued their preparations for this Saturdays Junior A Football Championship with a league match against Erins Own in Caherlag tonight. After a good display a threadbare Carraig side emerged with the points after a 3-06 to 1-07 win. Trailing 1-03 to 1-02 at the break, the switch of Brendan Murphy to centre forward for the second half proved to be the key move as he bagged a brace of goals early in the second half to set us on our way. Other fine performances from Timmy Geaney, Con Burns, Oisin Crowley and the Forde twins will give the management team plenty to ponder before Saturday. Well done lads! Throw in time for the match on Saturday against Fr.O’Neills is fixed for 4pm IN CASTLELYONS, please come along and support the lads in this big match for the club! ‪#‎ArAghaidhNabhFear‬ East Cork JAFC 3rd Round – Carraig na bhFear v Fr. Junior footballers fire past Midleton

East Cork Junior A Football Championship Round 2 Thurs 14th April – Midleton Carraig na bhFear 1-13 Midleton 0-06 Our Junior A footballers bounced back from their disappointing defeat to Midleton in round 1 with a well deserved win over Midleton. With pitch availability still at a premium, the game was switched to Midleton and the host pitch was in excellent condition on a perfect night for football. Carraig started brightly and the opening score came from the boot of Colm O’Reilly after 5 minutes. The magpies, playing on home soil, threatened early with some good direct football but the Carraig defence was up for the challenge and kept the hosts to few chances. Brendan Murphy was having a great outing at wing back, driving forward at every chance. Carraig took the lead again through a Colm free after a great take by full forward Aidan Hegarty saw him dragged down close to goal. Midleton levelled after 20 minutes with a point from play. Coming up to 25 minutes gone, Carraig introduced Oisin Crowley and James Meehan to the attack and it was  Crowley who made an instant contribution, collecting smartly 20 yards out and looping a left footed shot beyond the keeper into the Midleton net for a crucial goal. A point followed from Paul O’Keeffe after some excellent passing up the field from the full back line out. Midleton rounded off the half with a point from a close range free to leave the goal between the sides at the break. Carraig started the second half well, Shane Horgan and Aaron Dorgan dominating midfield and setting up the...
