East Cork Junior A Football Championship Quarter Final – Sat 28th May, Glenville Carraig na bhFear 0-08 Lisgoold 0-06 Carraig advanced to the East Cork semi final after a hard fought win over Lisgoold in Glenville in the quarter final on Saturday night. Having overcome Midleton and Fr. O’Neills impressively after a round 1 defeat to Cloyne, Carraig knew it would all count for little if they couldn’t see off the formidable challenge of Lisgoold. Conditions in Glenville on Saturday night were perfect for football, the pitch in excellent condition and the summer sun was shining. However, a month had passed since our last match against Fr. O’Neills and that was evident in the number of missed chances accumulated over the hour. Carraig started brightly and an early Aaron Dorgan point had us on the board after 2 minutes. John Cashman, the Lisgoold dangerman, was on target from a free soon after to level the sides up. With Paul O’Keeffe and Shane Horgan winning possession around midfield we dominated the early exchanges but struggled to make it show on the scoreboard, a number of early wides flowed until our second point on 10 minutes. The defence was confident and assured but it took us until the 17th minute to trouble the scoreboard operator again with our third point. An instant reply from the men in blue made it 0-03 to 0-02 after 18 minutes. Carraig were forced into an early change when centre forward Brendan Murphy picked up a knock, Con Burns being introduced in his place. Both sides were defending well and it was Lisgoold who were next...

U8 Monster Hurling Blitz Our two Under 8 hurling teams, put in excellent performances on Sat. Morning, May 21 st , at Inniscarra Grounds, where the Rebel Og Monster Hurling Blitz took place. Against formidable opposition from Blarney, Aghabullogue and Nemo Rangers, there were some outstanding passages of play, with real honest endeavour from the Carraig lads. The hard work they have been putting in on the training ground each Friday evening , is really paying dividends in terms of the improvement shown by these fine players today. U6: The U6 group continued their hurling and football training last Friday, and the weather failed to dampen their enthuasism. Their progression will be tested again this week as they are preparing to take on Whitechurch U6 hurlers next Saturday , in a rematch in Whitechurch. Rebel Óg Féile Hurling Semi Final Sun 15th May – Caherlag Tracton 3-5 Carraig na bhFear 1-5 Carraig na bhFear U14’s headed to Caherlag this afternoon hoping to advance to the Cork Feile final but just fell short to a strong Tracton team. This was a fiercely competitive game straight from the throw-in and Tracton got off to great start with an unstoppable early goal. Carraig didn’t panic and fought their way back in to the game. Despite the early setback goalkeeper Darragh Tattan and his full back line of Dylan Foley(Captain) and Ciaran O’Regan came more into the game and were clearing most attacks. Our first point came from Billy Connolly, scoring a trademark point from the right wing and this was followed shortly afterwards by a magnificent run and sublime point by Felix Murphy. Our inside forward line of Sean O’ Donoghue and Evan Quealey were now causing problems for the opposition’s full back line but Tracton stepped up a gear and posted two 2 great points from distance. Some great passages of play followed over the next few minutes where there was no let-up in the frantic pace. Great credit to our half back line of David Fitzpatrick, Tadhg O’Donoghue and Ciaran Aherne who fought for every puck out and breaking ball. Just before half time free taker, Luke Cremin, held his nerve to put over 2 superb points from frees. This was a great boost before half time and there was only the bare minimum between the teams at half time, Tracton leading 1-2 to 0-4. Goals were always going to be the main deciding...
