Mixed results for Junior Hurlers in Championship & League

Hard luck to our Junior A hurlers who were defeated by Sars on Saturday night in the East Cork Junior A Hurling Championship preliminary round. It was a close game throughout with the sides level at the break 0-07 apiece. An early second half goal gave Sars a lead they wouldn’t relinquish however despite the best efforts of a determined Carraig team and a few late points gave Sars a 6 point win 1-13 0-10 win. We now face Carrigtwohill in the first round proper next Sunday at 3pm in Rathcormac. We have no doubt the lads will bounce back from defeat. Well done to our 3 debutants last night, Michael Ahern, Brendan Murphy and Oisin Crowley who all put in fine performances. Mol an Oige! Team: Conor Hegarty, Michael Ahern, Colm O’Reilly, Tomás Sheehan Diarmuid O’Driscoll, Stephen Casey, Brian Hegarty Paul Geaney, Timmy Geaney John Forde, Aidan Hegarty, Brendan Murphy Oisin Crowley, Aaron Dorgan, John Walsh Subs used: David Sweeney for Stephen Casey   Well done to our Junior B hurlers who made the trip to Dungourney on Monday night in the East Cork Junior Hurling league Div 2 and came away with a 0-17 to 1-08 win. Standout performances from top scorer Conor Hayes, Ryan Galvin and Ronan Spillane in attack lead the way while James Forde, Mike Ahern and Brian Sheehan in goal held a strong defence together. Another good result for the lads, who have two home games against Killeagh and Sarsfields coming up in the next few weeks before their championship match against Castlelyons. Keep up the hard work lads!...

Junior A Hurling Championship this weekend

East Cork Junior A Hurling Championship Preliminary Round Carraig na bhFear v Sarsfields Sat 18th June 7:45pm – Lisgoold The big day has finally arrived for our Junior A Hurlers as they get their campaign for the Jamesy Kelleher Cup underway this Saturday night in Lisgoold at 7:45pm. Sarsfields are the opposition in this preliminary round encounter, this is one of the toughest draws any team could get as the Riverstown club are always well prepared and have a wealth of experience in their ranks, but it is a challenge the lads are certainly looking forward to. We encourage all our supporters young and old to make the trip to Lisgoold this Saturday night. It promises to be a great game. Best of luck lads...
