Juvenile Club Notes 27th October

Mary Geaney- Former Club Secretary  R.I.P. On September 21st 2016, Mary Geaney ,our former Club Secretary and proud native of Spancill Hill in Clare, passed away following a lengthy illness.  Her love of dancing in her youth took her to Limerick, where she met, fell in love with, and married Tony. Mary moved to Carraig na bhFear, and became the proud mother of Caroline, Michelle, Antoinette, Noelle and Michael. Mary involved herself in many community organisations, and gave freely of her time and expertise. She was a very hardworking committed Club Secretary, and we will never forget her total and absolute dedication to her work.  She never sought the limelight, but was happy when giving of herself. Mary also worked as Primary School Secretary until her illness and her wonderful memory for occasions, and her many talents, were shared generously. She was full of life and energy, and took great pleasure in seeing people achieving their potential.  Always ready to help people in need and was an inspiration to us all.  She always had the interest of people uppermost, and nothing was too much trouble for Mary.  Those fortunate to have known her were indeed honoured. Mary’s essence can be summed up, as a community volunteer, wife, mother, grandmother and wonderful Christian.   She touched the lives, of all those, who were fortunate to have been in contact with her.  Mary will be fondly remembered for her many talents, being a loyal friend, colleague and inspiration in adversity. Slan a chara Mary, agus in iothlann Dé go  gcastar sinn. Juvenile Reports U6 The under 6’s wrapped up their playing season...

Busy week for underage teams in blitzes and street leagues

Carraig na bhFear U7’s The U7’s travelled to sunny Lisgoold on Sat. morning for their final football blitz competition of the year! They played three games. The Carraig boys got off to a good start in their first game which was against Lisgoold and with evenly matched sides this challenge ended in a draw with some great goals. Cork Senior Football panellist, and Cork U21 star, Kieran Histon, spoke to the players after this match. He imparted some words of wisdom, to his captive audience … “Listen to your Mentors & practice kicking with both legs”. The boys were delighted with their group photo with Kieran. They then went on to play Glanmire and Glenville – but unfortunately lost to both.. Great credit due to all the Carraig players this morning and especially for their efforts at trying to pick the ball up from the ground with their foot, rather than their hands … keep practicing! Mentors Shane and Donal congratulated the U7’s with their fine performances throughout the campaign and then presented all the players with Blitz medals! Parish Leagues will be run over the coming three Saturdays’, so let’s hope the weather holds a little longer! The panel last Saturday was as follows: Ronan Ahern,  Facthna Kelleher, Dillon Manley,  Alex Sheehan, Kevin Murphy,  Evan O Leary, Tom Collins, Cillian Burns, Kaye Sayin and Charlie Horgan.   Carraig na bhFear U8’s Our U8 footballers played their last monster football blitz of the year in Blackrock last Saturday morning. There was a large number of teams in action and Carraig were drawn against Brian Dillons, Ballinora and Whites Cross....
