Match Reports 30th April

Carraig na bhFear 2-12 Muintir Bhaire 1-08. Carraig na bhFear recorded their second win of the Cork County Junior A Football League, after a good honest display against Muintir Bhaire, on Saturday April 21 st in Carraig na bhFear. The story of this game was defined in the joint performance of Oisin Crowley and Paul Murphy, both players in the full forward line who managed to score all of Carraig’s scores. Carraig started with a good tempo and were quick to get on the scoresheet. Within the first 15 minutes, Crowley and Murphy had both goaled after good approach work from midfield. Both finishes were clinical and left Carraig in front at half time, Carraig 2-06 Muintir Bhaire 0-04. Carraig did not lessen their grip on the game in the second half. S Casey was solid at full back and the half back line of Cronin, Dorgan and Sweeney defended quite well. M Aherne and S Horgan fielded well at midfield and this platform kept a constant flow of possession heading in the direction of the “Terrible Twins”. Crowely added three more minors from frees, whilst Murphy, lena chiatog, scored three from play. Munitir Bhaire did rally and managed a good goal with ten minutes left. But Carraig finished the game well and won by a margin of seven points. Onwards and upwards for the group, with the first round of the Football Championship only two weeks away. Team: C Hayes, T Sheehan, S Casey, C Cooney, C Cronin, A Dorgan, T Neally, M Aherne, S Horgan, J Forde, P O’Keeffe, B Murphy, P Murphy, O Crowley, J Forde. Subs: D Sweeney for Neally. Facile Victory for Carraig na bhFear Junior Hurlers...

Carraig na bhFear Junior Hurlers slip to defeat

Cork County Junior ‘A’ Hurling League Result: Cloughduv 2-19 Carraig na bhFear 0-14. Sun 8th April @ Cloughduv The Carraig na bhFear Junior Hurlers made their inaugural appearance in the Cork County Junior League, on Sunday last, April 8th in Cloughduv, and unfortunately, it was not a happy experience. This was a game that Carraig not really got to the tempo of and were dictated to from the off by an aggressive and fit Cloughduv side. Cloughduv raced into a very quick 1 goal and two points lead after the first five minutes and they were never lead for the rest of the game.  Thankfully Carraig woke from their slumber and started to register some scores through excellent play by Timmy Geaney and Paul Murphy. Diarmuid O Driscoll gradually started to lead from the front at centre back but the Carraig full back line was under serious pressure as incessant ball was coming their direction. Cloughduv, aided by the elements went 1-10 to 0-4 ahead with five minutes to go to half time. Carraig then enjoyed their best period with two very good scores from play, and also at least three goal chances created but alas, none were taken. Half time score 1-10 to 0-6 in favour of the men from Cloughduv. After the switch over, Carraig tried to make more of an impression on the game, but for every point we scored, Cloughduv answered. Ten minutes into the second half, a speculative shot from distance deceived Carraig’s goalkeeper, Conor Hegarty and nestled in the net. That gave Cloughduv a six point lead just as Carraig were starting to...
