County Junior A Football League
Carraig na bhFear 1-12 Dromtariffe 3-12
On Sunday morning last, Carraig hosted Dromtariffe in the third round of games in the Cork County Junior Football League. This was a game that Carraig were chasing from the start, after the concession of two goals in the first 13 minutes of the game. Carraig were short a number of U21 players after their exertions from the previous day, but this gave an opportunity for a number of fringe players. Carraig did fight back into the game, with promininent play from Paul O Keeffe and the evergreen Shane Horgan i lar na bpairce. The half time score was Dromtariffe 2-07, Carraig 0-07.
Dromtariffe managed to keep Carraig at arms length throughout the second half, as Carraig tried to reel them in. With Carraig chasing the game, Dromtariife sat deep and hit quickly on
the counter, and from this they engineered their third goal with a quarter of the game left. There was no way back for Carraig, eventhough C O’Reilly did dispatch a penalty in the last
three minutes. A worthwhile work out for the team a week away from Championship, but a few creases to be ironed out as well.
