Carraig na bhFear 5k Results 2019

Thanks to all who attended our fifth annual 5K Road Race on Tuesday 20th August in Carraig na bhFear. The rain held off and conditions were perfect for running. A record number of participants took to the line once again, thank you to all who support this fundraiser each year. The overall winner in the mens category was Kieran McKeown, who came home in a time of 16:05, a fantastic time, well done Kieran. Following in home in second place was Nathan O’Leary in a time of 16:21. Hot on his heels was Evan Fitzgerald in third place with a time of 16:28. Well done lads, mighty running! In the ladies race, after numerous place finishes in recent years, victory went to local primary school teacher Claire O’Brien, who ran a brilliant race to win in a time of 18:58. Well done Claire! Second place went to Linda O’Sullivan with a speedy time of 19:27, while third place went to Louise Murphy, showing Conor how it’s done with a time of 20:59. Congratulations ladies, fantastic times all round! Well done to all who participated. We hope to see you all back again in 2020 when we hope to host the race again for it’s sixth edition. Carraig na bhFear 5k Road Race 2018 Results

Thanks to all who attended our fourth annual 5K Road Race on Tuesday 21st August in Carraig na bhFear. It was a warm and humid evening for running but the crowds turned out in record numbers to support the event. The overall winner in the mens category was Eric Curran, who clocked a fantastic time of 16:10 around the course. In second place was last years winner, John Meade, the Whites Cross legend coming home in a time of 16:23, maith thú a Sheáin! He was followed home in third place by Kieran McKeown in a time of 16:52. Well done lads, mighty running! In the ladies, Karina Murphy took top honours, in a time of 19:55. Second place went to Sharon Rynne, who finished with a great run of 20:04. In third place was local teacher Claire O’Brien, who finished in a fantastic time of 20:39. Congratulations ladies! Well done to all who participated. We hope to see you all back again in 2019 when we hope to host the race again for it’s fifth edition. Carraig na bhFear GAA 5K Run – August 21st

Muintir Chorcai, faigh do bhrogai! It’s that time again. The Annual Carraig na bhFear GAA 5K Run is on this August 21, at 7.30pm, starting in Carraig na bhFear Village. The 5K is for both serious and casual runners, wheelchair rollers, and walkers, of any age. Being active by running, jogging, or walking is to be encouraged; evidence shows that undertaking physical activity can help to prevent disease, maintain a healthy weight, and promote mental health and well-being. Cash prizes on offer for 1st, 2nd and 3rd places for men and women…but there are sure to be more than a few runners that will want the honour of claiming the cash along with the prestige of winning our famed event!! Carraig na bhFear GAA 5K Results 2017

The crowds gathered in tremendous numbers for the third annual Carraig na bhFear GAA 5k Race on Wednesday evening 9th August. Conditions were ideal and after some heavy rain in the week leading up to the race it was great to see the sun out once again for the race. In the end over 275 participants took part in the event, a fantastic turnout and up on the numbers from last year once again. For this, we want to say a huge thank you to all of our runners,joggers and walkers, without you the race could not be a success and we sincerely hope you had an enjoyable evening. Thanks to Nicky Pike for his organisational skills, it was a fantastic effort from Nicky and his crew ensured everything went off successfully. Míle buíochas to Pauline and her crew for the teas, coffees, sandwiches and delicious cakes, we may need to run another 5K after all of the goodies! Finally, many thanks to Noreen Murphy and all in Carraig na bhFear Athletic Club for their great support, which is vital to the running of the race. In the race itself, the winner in a thrilling finish was John Meade who stormed home in a time of 16:07. He was followed by Michael Corbett, last years winner, in a very impressive time of 16:09, while Tim Twomey was home in 16:32 to clinch third place. In the ladies category, Michelle Kenny won with a fantastic run in a time of 18:06. Second place went to Margaret Murphy who completed the course in 19:06, while third place went to last years...

Carraig na bhFear GAA 5K Road Race – Wed 9th August

Carraig na bhFear GAA are hosting a fundraising 5k run in Carraig na bhFear on Wed 9th August at 7:30pm. Admission is €10 and a Family of 4 for €30. Registration begins at 6:30pm at the Primary School on the night. You can run, walk or crawl around the course as you please and it promises to be a great night of fun and chat. Tea, Coffee and refreshments will be available for all afterwards in the school. There will be a clock on the course but the event will not be chip timed. Looking forward to seeing you all there!
