It’s a huge week for the club on the hurling front. No less than 3 teams in knockout championship action, each game as important as the other.
First up, on Sunday night our Junior A hurlers take on Sarsfields in the East Cork Junior A Hurling Championship Quarter Final at 7pm in Watergrasshill. After succumbing to St.Ita’s in round 1, the lads have regrouped and rejigged to defeat Russell Rovers and Lisgoold in the subsequent rounds. Sars defeated Russell Rovers in round 1 and have been inactive since, but their pedigree is good and they represent the lads toughest test to date. Best of luck lads.
On Monday night, our Junior B hurlers are also in action against Sarsfields, this time at 6:30pm and in Caherlag in Round 3 of the East Cork Junior B Championship. Again, the backdoor was our route after losing to Cloyne in round 1,before a young side defeated Dungourney in round 2 with a great performance full of guts and top quality hurling.
Finally, our Minor Hurlers take on Blackrock in the Rebel Óg East A Championship next Wednesday in Church Road at 7:30pm. The lads league form to date has been good and the side are backboned by some exciting players who have already shown their worth at junior level this year. It promises to be a thrilling game against the city clubs second team, as the famous Rockies nursery has been producing quality teams at underage level consistently these past few years.
So three dates for your diary, Sunday,Monday and Wednesday, come along and support your LOCAL club, as our hurlers do us proud!
