Junior B Footballers record 1st round win

East Cork Junior B Football Championship 1st Round
Venue: Sallybrook
Tues 23rd Sept

Carraig na bhFear 2-14 Lisgoold 0-13

Well done to our Junior B footballers who had a good win over Lisgoold in the first round of the East Cork JBFC on Tuesday night. The match was delayed due to a floodlighting issue in the Glanmire venue, with Jimmy Hickey coming up trumps as the saviour of the hour, can’t beat a good mechanic!
In a free flowing game, Carraig lead from pillar to post, with Colm O’Reilly, Con Burns, William Spillane and Liam Ryan all impressing in the first half. We lead 0-09 to 0-07 at the break, with the concession of some soft frees keeping Lisgoold firmly in contention. Lisgoold dominated the early stages of the second half with some fine periods of possession football causing Carraig problems, but with Colm uneering from frees and Cormac Hill, Liam Ryan and Padraig O’Sullivan all doing well in attack, we held our lead. A goal from Padraig O’Sullivan put 6 between the sides midway through the half, but Lisgoold reduced the margin to three with some well taken points. A late goal from Colm O’Reilly, after a long ball in that deceived the keeper and went straight to the net, put us 6 points ahead again and a late point for Liam Ryan rounded off the scoring as we progress to the next round on a scoreline of 2-14 to 0-13.
