Carraig na bhFear GAA Club AGM Sat, 17th December, 8:15pm Scoil an Athar Tadhg
The AGM of Carraig na bhFear GAA Club will take place this Saturday night, 17 December in Scoil an Athar Tadhg at 8:15pm. This extremely important meeting is a chance for all members to contribute to the club in a positive fashion and plan for the year ahead, while looking back on the year just gone by, on and off the field of play.
All Members are asked to attend this important meeting.

Munster Senior Club Football Championship Final Sun 4th Dec -2:00pm - Killarney UCC V Dr. Crokes
Carraigs Junior Football Captain, Martin Hickey, lines out for UCC in defence this Sunday in the Munster Club Football Championship final, where they take on Dr.Crokes. Martin has been in great form all year for both club and college and all in the club wish him the very best of luck on Sunday, we know he will represent the club with great pride. We encourage all our supporters to come along and give Martin your support on Sunday.

Carraigs Junior A Football Championship ambitions for 2011 are over after defeat to Glenbower Rovers in the semi final at Castlelyons on Wednesday night. Two early goals gave the Killeagh men an advantage they were not to surrender, despite a spirited fightback from Carraig. Full report to follow.

Carraig bounced back from the disappointment of Wednesday nights East Cork Junior A Hurling final to record a good win over Castlemartyr in the East Cork Junior A Football championship quarter final on Saturday night in Carrigtwohill. Carraig ran out winners on a 1-15 to 0-8 scoreline. Full report can be read here.
Carraig now progress to a semi final meeting with Glenbower Rovers this Wednesday evening,21st Sept, in Castlelyons, with a 7:30pm throw in. Once again, we encourage all our supporters to come along and give the team your full support in this big game for the club. The winners will take on Lisgoold this weekend in the East Cork Final.

Despite the disappointment of Wednesdays hurling final, Carraigs Junior Footballers will put that to one side and aim to keep their Championship ambitions on track this Saturday night, when they take on Castlemartyr in the much delayed East Cork Junior A Championship Quarter final. The game takes place in Carrigtwohill at 7:30pm under lights once again. Once again, we encourage all our supporters to come along and give the team their full support as they look to reach the semi final for the third time in four seasons.

Dungourney are the 2011 East Cork Junior A Hurling Champions after a narrow one point win over Carraig on Wednesday night in a thriller in Carrigtwohill. Carraig played their hearts out but will look back on a high wides total with some regret. Final score Dungourney 0-18 Carraig na bhFear 1-14. The team have done the club proud all year in each of their six championship outings and we look forward to 2012 where they will try to go one step further. Full match report can be read here.

There was nothing to seperate the sides at the end of 60 pulsating minutes on Saturday last and now, Carraig and Dungourney face off again tonight in the replay of the East Cork Junior A Hurling Championship final. The game takes place in Carrigtwohill with a 7:30pm throw in. Once again, we encourage all our supporters to come along and give the team your full support on the night, in this big game for the club.

East Cork Junior A Hurling Final Carraig na bhFear V Dungourney Sat 10th Sept 2011 - Midleton @ 6:00pm
For just the third time in the clubs history, we will contest the East Cork Junior A Hurling Championship final this Saturday when the team take on Dungourney in Midleton. Carraigs route to the final has seen the team overcome Midleton, Lisgoold (after a replay) and Sarsfields, but Saturdays match promises to be the toughest match to date against an in form Dungourney team.
Throw in time in Midleton is 6:00pm, with the game being preceded by Aghada V Erins Own in the Junior B Hurling Championship. Please be advised that there is a food fair in Midleton town on Saturday, so traffic diversions may be in place around the time. With this in mind, we encourage all our supporters to arrive in plenty time to reach the ground in time for the throw in.
We wish the team and their management the very best of luck, we know they will do the club proud. Ar aghaidh na bhFear!

Carraig na bhFear are through to the East Cork Junior A Hurling Championship Final for the first time since 2008 after a deserved two point victory over Sarsfields in the semi final in sunny Watergrasshill on Sunday evening. Final score Carraig 0-17 Sarsfields 1-12, full report can be read here.
The East Cork Final will take place on Sat 10th September in Midleton, with a time to be confirmed. Keep an eye here for details.

16/08/2011 There was no winner of the Jackpot of €5000 on Monday night. The draw took place in The Arches. The numbers were 4, 7 and 25.

31/07/2011 A late late point from Con Burns, deep into injury time, saved Carraigs Junior A Hurling Championship ambitions after a tough hours hurling in Castlelyons on Saturday night. Carraig lead 1-08 to 0-06 at the break but a strong second half from Lisgoold saw them take them lead with a few minutes to go, before Burns point levelled things up and forced the replay. Congratulations to the victorious Under 14 hurlers who won the Rebel Og East Region A Hurling Championship on Monday night with a fantastic 5-10 to 1-14 win over Courcey Rovers in Caherlag. Four goal hero Brendan Murphy was the star man for Carraig on the night. Well done to all.

East Cork Junior B Hurling Championship 1st Round Carraig na bhFear 1-14 V Watergrasshill 0-16
A late point from the stick of Aidan Hegarty saw Carraigs Junior B hurlers record a one point victory over Watergrasshill in Rathcormac on Friday night. Carraig lead 0-07 to 0-06 at the break and helped by a goal from Hegarty, Carraig were three points clear mid way through the second half before the Hill stormed back to force an exciting finish. Final Score Carraig 1-14 Watergrasshill 0-16. Well done to the entire team on a great performance, full report to follow.

After picking up their second win of the league last week against Killeagh, Carraigs Junior B Hurling team continue their preparations for the upcoming first round of the championship with a trip to Rathcormac on Tuesday evening to take on Bride Rovers in the East Cork league division two. Throw in time at Pairc na Bride is 8:00pm. The Junior B Hurlers take on Watergrasshill in the first round of the championship on Friday,15th July at 7:30pm in Riverstown.
On Thursday next, 7th July, the Junior A Footballers face Glanmire at home in the East Cork Junior Football league division one, with a 7:45pm throw in time.

Bouyed by the win for the Junior A hurlers on Sunday night, Carraigs Junior B hurlers defeated Killeagh in the East Cork Junior Hurling League division two on Tuesday night in Carraig. Carraig advanced to a quarter final meeting with Lisgoold after a three point win over Midleton in perfect conditions for hurling at Watergrasshill on Sunday night. The Junior A Hurlers play their final game of the group stages of the Avondhu/Imokilly hurling league tonight, when Shanballymore are the visitors to Carraig. Carraig need to win to remain in contention for a semi final place in the league so there is plenty to play for. Throw in time in Carraig is 8:00pm. On Saturday next, 18th June, Cloyne are the visitors to Carraig in the East Cork Hurling league division 2. Throw in time is 7:00pm for this game.

Mixed results over the past week for Carraigs Junior Hurling teams. On Wednesday last, the Junior A Hurlers had a good win over Churchtown in the Avondhu/Imokilly Junior Hurling League. Final Score Carraig 0-23 Churchtown 1-09. Full report can be read here.
On Sunday morning, the Junior B hurlers went down to a stronger Sars team in the East Cork Hurling league division 2 in Riverstown. A flurry of goals for the hosts saw them run out winners on a 5-12 to 1-10 scoreline.

The Junior B hurlers were narrowly defeated in the best game of hurling seen so far this year in Carraig on Thursday night, when St. Ita's took the points on offer in the East Cork Junior Hurling League division two clash. There was little to seperate the sides throughout this contest with the lead changing hands on a number of occasions. Carraig were reduced to 14 men before the interval and also missed two second half penalties, as the visitors from Gortroe held on for a 3-18 to 3-15 win despite a late Carraig onslaught. Carraig Junior A's recent good form in the Avondhu/Imokilly Junior Hurling league came to a halt on Tuesday night when they were outplayed by a well prepared Lisgoold side in Carraig. In a match played in near perfect conditions for hurling, Lisgoold lead 0-07 to 0-06 at the break and dominated after the break, firing points from distance to run out convincing winners on a 0-19 to 0-10 scoreline. Despite a strong second half comeback from the hosts, Carraig claimed a two point win over Dungourney in the Avondhu/Imokilly Junior Hurling League Division one Section two clash on Friday night. Aided by a strong wind, Carraig raced into a 0-12 to 0-03 lead at the break and had to withstand huge pressure from Dungourney in the second half before coming away with the points on offer. This makes it four wins on the bounce for Carraig since the opening day defeat to Charleville. Match report can be read here.

12/05/2011 With The Junior A Football Championship quarter final V Castlemartyr postponed until later in the summer, attention now switches to the small ball, with a series of hurling league matches in the coming weeks for Carraigs Junior A Hurlers in the Avondhu/Imokilly Hurling league. First up, Carraig welcome North Cork Champions Buttevant to Carraig on Saturday evening, throw in time is 7:30pm. Then, on Tuesday next, Carraig face Lisgoold in Carraig, again with a 7:30pm throw in time. Further matches against Ballygiblin, Dungourney and Shanballymore are scheduled in the weeks ahead, so it promises to be a busy few weeks on the field.

12/05/2011 A strong first half performance, noteable for the displays of some veteran players, saw Carraig take the points on off in the Junior Football league division two clash on Wednesday evening against St. Catherines.
First half points from Willie Sheehan, William Spillane, Brian Twomey and Cian Dorgan helped Carraig into a commanding 0-07 to 0-02 lead at the break, before a goal from Twomey after the interval stretched the gap and Carraig held on for a deserved win.

The Junior A Hurlers picked up their first win of the season in Midleton on Wednesday night, with a hard fought 0-12 to 1-08 win over the home side on a beautiful night for hurling. Both sides were guilty of missing plenty chances but despite a late Midleton goal, Carraig emerged with the points. Full report can be viewed here.
Football League Final The 2010 Junior A Football league final versus Cloyne, long delayed, is scheduled to be played on Thursday night next, 28th April at 7:30pm in Lisgoold, with a great hours football in prospect.

Carraigs Junior A Hurlers make the journey to Midleton this Wednesday in their second outing in the Avondhu/Imokilly Junior Hurling league. After a narrow defeat to Charleville in their opening match, Carraig will be keen to get back to winning ways in this one against what is sure to be a strong Midleton outfit. Throw in time in Clonmult park is 7:00pm.
In recent matches, Carraigs Junior A Footballers suffered a disappointing defeat to Glenbower Rovers in the East Cork Junior Football league division one on Thursday, 14th April. Despite leading for most of the game, a late goal for the Killeagh men saw them claim the spoils on a 3-07 to 2-09 scoreline. On Tuesday night, a young Carraig Junior B Football side went down to neighbours Glenville in division two of the league, on a scoreline of 1-15 to 0-12.

Carraig na bhFear GAA will once again hold the annual Poc Fada on St. Patricks Day, March 17th. The fun starts at 11:30am from Coole Cross, via the traditional route around Dun Bolg, back in the College road and finishing in the village. All are welcome to take part in this event, which as usual will consist of teams of three.

| UCC Win Sigerson Cup, Carraig defeat Bride Rovers in League |

Congratulations to Martin Hickey, who was a member of the victorious UCC squad that claimed the Sigerson Cup title on Saturday afternoon, after a gruelling three matches in three days. They defeated UUJ in the final to claim the cup for the first time since 1995. Well done Martin on yet another fantastic achievement.
Carraig defeated Bride Rovers in the Junior Football League division 1 on Saturday last in Rathcormac. Leading by a point at the interval, Carraig pushed on in the second half to win on a scoreline of 0-14 to 1-05. Match report can be read here.

Both Junior Football teams kicked off their 2011 league campaigns this weekend, with mixed fortunes. On Saturday, the Junior B team got off to a slow start and conceded 2-04 early on to a sharp Dungourney team, eventually losing on a scoreline of Dungourney 4-12 Carraig 1-07. On Sunday morning, the Junior A Footballers withstood a second half comeback from Lisgoold to collect the points on offer with a 1-10 to 2-05 win in the College pitch. Registration Night 2011: Friday, 4th Feb, 8:00pm Scoil an Athar Tadhg
We're now well into the new year and the new season is slowly but surely swinging into action.
Our Annual Registration night will be held on Friday next, 4th February, at 8:00pm in Scoil an Athar Tadhg. Registration for the Adult and Juvenille clubs will take place on the night.
The membership rates remain unchanged for 2011.
Therefore, The membership fees for 2011 will be:
Playing: €140 , including €100 annual subscription to the Club Lotto. Non Playing: €125 including €100 annual subscription to the Club Lotto.
Families will only be asked for one Lotto subscription in any one year. (Example) For two parents and two players – payment would be constructed as follows: 1st parent 125.00 2nd parent 25.00 Two players in adult club (From Minor upwards) €80.00
The membership fee of €40 (playing) and €25 (non playing) must be paid up front. However, the lotto subscription can be paid in stages. A Direct debit can be arranged with either quarterly payments of €25 per payment or half yearly of €50 per payment. Alternatively, these stage payments can be forwarded to our Registrar, Michael Sherlock. Members are free to add €100.00 Lotto support for each membership received. Members having a Lotto subscription included in their membership can provide their three numbers at registration and these numbers will be used in each weekly draw.

Details of the newly formed Avondhu/Imokilly Junior A Hurling League have been announced. The league will consist of 18 teams, divided into two sections. The Top teams from each section go directly into the Avondhu-Imokilly League Division 1 Final, which will be played in Fermoy, no later than Sunday the 31st of July.

Training for all Junior Footballers and Hurlers resumes tomorrow night, Tuesday. 25th jan, in Eddie Hegartys farm, Gormlee with a 7:30pm start. All players are requested to come togged out and to bring your own water. New players, or old faces that have been out of action for a while, are particularly welcome.

The draws for the East Cork Junior A Football and Hurling Championships for 2011 were made at the first meeting of the East Cork Board last night. Carraig have been given two tough opening draws. In Football, Cobh will provide the opposition yet again in the first round. In Hurling, Carraig will face the losers of the preliminary round clash between Lisgoold and Midleton in round one.
The draw for the first round of the East Cork Junior B Football Championship was also made, with Carraig drawn to face Castlelyons, who have only just dropped down from Junior A. The full draws can be seen here on the East Cork Board website. It promises to be another exciting year of action in the Imokilly division.
