Mixed results for our 3 teams in action this weekend. On Saturday our U16 footballers lost their opening league match to a good Killeagh/St.Ita’s team in Carraig on a 2-9 to 3-3 scoreline. The lads improved throughout the game and will be looking to build on their performance for their next outing.
This morning, Sunday, our young Minor footballers put in a good performance against Cobh in Carraig but were defeated on a 2-11 to 2–07 scoreline after an entertaining match. This was also their first outing of the season and the lads will be working hard on the training pitch to get their first win the next day out.
Our Junior A Footballers fared better and took the points on offer in their East Cork Junior Football League clash in Cloyne this morning. Goals from Colm O’Reilly and the lively Aaron Dorgan helped Carraig to a 2-08 to 2-06 win over the hosts in perfect conditions for football. Notable performances from Oisin Crowley, Brendan Murphy in goal and the aforementioned Dorgan helped Carraig to the win.
We meet the same opposition again in the first round of the championship on Sat 26th March, which will be a tougher test again.
